BBC School Report
During their English lessons last term, 7x began looking at different forms of Media, studying both tabloid and broadsheet papers and then becoming involved with writing their own newspaper articles. Following the success of this, they have now taken it one step further and have worked hard this term to produce their own news video. The video includes reports on mental health, the proposed ban on rugby tackling in schools, and high-sugar content in foods – which were chosen as topics which were relevant and interesting for students their age.
Students were able to write their own reports, choose reporters, conduct interviews and video the whole report themselves. Several representatives from year 7 and 9 were brave enough to go in-front of the camera and act as reporters for the day. They have shown brilliant independence, resilience and a mature attitude to this project.
I am very proud of the students. They have put in a lot of work, both in and out of lessons, to make their report and have been determined to meet the deadline date for the BBC School Report project.
