Student Support

Student Welfare provides personal and individual learning and welfare support to all students throughout their time at Aylesford School – Sports College. If a student is unhappy or worried, there is always someone who will listen and give support. We aim to ensure that all of our students are happy, fulfilled and successful.

The Welfare team consists of: an Assistant Head Teacher, Mentors, Pastoral Support Managers, an Early Intervention Support Manager, a High Level TA, Attendance Officer and a Student receptionist.

Our Welfare aims include:

  • being a school where the well-being of everyone is the prime concern of each member of our community
  • supporting a learning community in which our students can realise  their full potential
  • providing a safe, stimulating and enriching environment where everyone is able to enjoy his/her best possible health and well-being
  • encouraging students  to grow up to be responsible, active members of their community
  • promoting emotional intelligence
  • promoting regular attendance and good behaviour as pre-conditions for maintaining high standards of achievement
  • encouraging tolerance and understanding between all members of our community
  • a clear understanding that effort, kindness and good manners will be valued
  • developing an understanding of being responsible for oneself
  • fostering the kind of community where everyone helps each other and looks after our environment

Our Student Welfare Team works hard to ensure all students are successful whilst at Aylesford School – Sports College.  We work together with parents/carers to ensure all students are happy at school.  We have developed many support systems for students to access when they may be finding things hard, for example:-

  • Additional mentoring
  • Restorative intervention
  • School Nurse referrals
  • Peer mentor
  • Attendance support
