Welcome to Year 11
Welcome to Year 11, the final year of study at Key Stage 4. It is a busy and very important year in which students will take public examinations in May and June in all of their GCSE subjects. Coursework and controlled assessments are completed throughout the Key Stage and it is important that students perform to their full potential at all times. A consistent work ethic will also help the students balance the pressures that they face at the end of Year 11.
During Year 11 students continue to study the core curriculum as well as their option subjects chosen according to their personal interests and strengths from a range of subjects. In addition, they follow a varied curriculum of Physical Education and PSHE, and the opportunity to develop ICT skills is provided across a range of subjects in Key Stage 4.
Our job is to care for each individual student and encourage them to reach their full potential both academically and personally. High standards of behaviour and attitude to learning are expected for students to be able to achieve this. Excellent attendance and punctuality is vital at all stages of school; however, in Key Stage 4 it is fundamental to ensuring that our students become successful learners and is essential in giving them every chance to reach their full potential. We also expect students to take responsibility for their own learning and behaviour, making effective use of all the support on offer in lessons and in mentor time.
Year 11 can be a challenging time for students but it is also an exciting year, with new challenges and opportunities ahead.
We are committed to helping every student in Year 11 achieve their full potential and as their Heads of Year we ask that they give their best and make the most of the opportunities available to them.
