Mr S Bennett
Head of ICT, Teacher of Business & Assistant Head of 6th Form.
Assessment at both KS3 and KS4 reinforces development of both skills and character. Feedback not only identifies next steps in learning but also encourages pupils to reflect on and demonstrate character strengths such as resilience, courage and integrity when responding to feedback.
Homework in the IT department is designed to support long-term learning and exam readiness. KS3 pupils are set knowledge retrieval homework every two weeks to reinforce key concepts, while KS4 students complete weekly independent tasks focused on embedding knowledge, reflection, and examination preparation.
At Aylesford School, our ICT and Computing curriculum is supported by purposeful independent work designed to reinforce classroom learning and develop technical proficiency. All homework and independent tasks are managed and tracked through ClassCharts.
Key Stage 3 (Years 7-9)
Students are set online quizzes on a fortnightly basis. These quizzes are designed to assess knowledge retention and understanding of topics recently covered in class, helping students build a solid foundation in computing concepts. Results from quizzes immediate once answers are submitted so students can reflect on their learning and reattempt where necessary.
Key Stage 4 (Years 10-11)
To support exam preparation and deeper understanding, Key Stage 4 students are set weekly independent work via SENECA Learning. Furthermore, students are provided with direct access to comprehensive lesson materials to review, revise, and further embed their learning outside of school hours.
