Sixth Form Visits & Contribution

Sixth Form Visits, Events and Trips

School visits are a vital part of school life. They may be curriculum based, careers based or arranged as part of a team building enrichment activity.

Trips that have been arranged previously include

  • School visit to The National Apprenticeships Show
  • UCAS University Exhibition and Kent Choices Fairs
  • Mid-Kent College Higher Education Information Tour
  • 1:1 Careers interviews
  • Health and Social Care visit to Maidstone Hospital
  • Paintballing trip / Ice Skating / Panic Rooms
  • License to Kill at Mote Park

Visits and activities give you the chance to broaden your horizons and see something new, they are just as important as your studies and you are encouraged to take part in as many as possible. The 6th Form plan to expand the number of trips and visits for the academic year 2018/19. This includes a possible trip to Spain for our IBCP students.

Student Visits Contribution

Rather than ask for ad hoc contributions towards trips every few weeks, we have planned the schedule of visits and activities which form part of the statutory careers information, advice, education and guidance (CIAEG) across years 12 & 13. These are the compulsory elements of the programmes of study in year 12. They include many of those listed above.

There will be other termly team cohesion trips that do incur a cost from subject areas, but these do not apply to every student and are therefore not included in this list.

We fund as much of this as possible, and there are some events that have no cost, but it is necessary for us to ask for a contribution of £40 per student. This payment does not include the 6 termly trips, however it does include the travel element costs, therefore reducing the cost of the trips.  We hope you will agree with us that this is excellent value for money, given the volume and variety of opportunities that we are providing. Should there be a surplus at the end of the year it will be refunded.

If you have any questions about the trips, please email 6form@aylesford.kent.sch.uk.

Under the school’s charging policy, these trips are offered with a request for a contribution of £40.00 to cover entrance fees, transport, insurance and admin costs. If you require financial support, please read the Charging and Remission Policy and write to the Headteacher, who will consider each individual application on its own merit. No student will be discriminated against on the grounds of inability to pay, but the school reserves the right to cancel any activity if sufficient funds are not raised by voluntary contributions. The payment should be deemed as non- refundable in the event of your child not attending the event. If the place can be filled by another paying student, then a refund will be made. Each request for a refund will be reviewed depending upon the circumstances and the school’s ability to reclaim costs.

If you are in receipt of Pupil Premium support, then please indicate this on the payments section of the consent form. Being in receipt of Pupil Premium does not automatically qualify your child to a free place on the trip, however if you return the consent form to us before the deadline for the visit then we will contact you to discuss payment terms. Please also look at the 16-19 Bursary as an application for this could include a request for this funding.

If you would like your son/daughter to take part in these Visits, please complete and return the attached permission slip and make a payment of £40.00 by the end of the first week of September. These payments must be made through ParentPay. The trips are shown as Sixth Form Trips, Events and Visits on ParentPay.
