Students and staff at Aylesford School are celebrating GCSE results which show continued improvement across a number of important areas and reflect the hard work and determination of the Class of 2026.
This year’s results continue the school’s positive trajectory, with improvement in overall attainment for the second consecutive year and more students securing strong outcomes across a broad range of subjects.
Particularly encouraging progress was seen in the number of students achieving strong passes across five or more subjects, including English and Mathematics. There were also improvements across a range of individual subjects, including Art, Business, French, Health and Social Care and History.
The school is particularly pleased with the progress made by students with special educational needs, whose outcomes improved substantially this year, reflecting the school’s continued focus on inclusion and ensuring that every young person is supported to succeed.
The results come during an exciting period of development for Aylesford School. Record numbers of students are choosing to study in the sixth form, reflecting increasing confidence in the school and the growing breadth and quality of its post-16 provision.
Headteacher Tanya Kelvie said:
“Today is about celebrating our students. We are incredibly proud of the determination and resilience they have shown and of everything they have achieved.
“It is particularly encouraging to see the school continuing to move forward, with improvements in important areas and some excellent results for individual students and subjects.
“There is always more that we want to achieve and these results provide further evidence of the progress being made at Aylesford. Alongside record numbers choosing our sixth form, there is a real sense of confidence and ambition about the future of the school.
“I would also like to thank our staff for their exceptional commitment and our parents and families for the support they have given our students throughout their time with us.”
Students will now progress to a wide range of destinations, including A-level and vocational study, college courses and apprenticeships, with many choosing to continue their education at Aylesford School.
We have a strong track record in our 6th form and continue to provide the same level of support as we give Year 11 (How to study sessions; extra study support - before school, lunchtimes, after school and holidays; breakfast revision; pastoral support; SEN support; support for mental health; Pepper school dog time) We still have some space in our 6th form - if you would like to apply please email Assistant Headteacher and Head of 6th Form - Mrs Dighton. amie.dighton@aylesford.kent.sch.uk
